About Us

Dr. Ryan Yocum, D.C.

Raised in small-town Kansas, Dr. Ryan grew up loving the outdoors, sports, and time spent with friends & family. With a little push, he started to unveil the healing principles and philosophy of chiropractic which led him to Cleveland Chiropractic College in Overland Park, Kansas. After approximately four years, Dr. Ryan gained his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and Doctorate of Chiropractic. While in school, he honed his diagnostic skills, his adjusting abilities and a myriad of different techniques in order to properly serve his community today.

He traveled to seminars outside of school nearly every other weekend to acquire 500 plus hours of extra chiropractic education and experience on top of required academics. The more he could learn, the better he could perform. Dr. Ryan was and is still involved with the International Chiropractic Association which has given him a surplus of great opportunities to meet and learn from chiropractors internationally. Additionally, Dr. Ryan is Webster Technique certified which allows him to serve all family types with top-notch care.  He credits his achievements and success to Karlee because, without her, his dreams would not have been possible.

Karlee was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. She attended a high school just north of city limits and then graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education. After five years of teaching, she decided it was time to focus on becoming a business owner alongside her husband, Dr. Ryan. In 2018, Karlee returned to school for a final time and graduated with an Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology. She’s often the one capturing x-ray images of new practice members so that Dr. Ryan can make an objective diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractic care is a form of health that focuses on removing subluxations with gentle and specific adjustments. It uses manual adjustments to the spine and other parts of the body to restore balance and mobility as well as proper brain and body communication within the nervous system. The adjustment seeks to address the root cause and by removing nervous system interferences, chiropractic care can empower your body to function optimally and self-heal.

Of course! Dr. Ryan uses gentle and specific manual techniques to help restore proper alignment and balance; these adjustments are safe as well as effective. Our experienced team provides the best care and ensures that you are comfortable during every visit.

As with any route of health care, there is risk such as temporary discomfort or fatigue following an adjustment. Decades of stress and damage cannot be undone in one visit; therefore, it’s vital to know that chiropractic care requires time and most importantly, consistency. Adjustments move bones and muscles in ways that they have not been used to “sitting” since the misalignment is what your body has been accustomed to.

The number of visits necessary to stabilize the nervous system depends on the individual and our objective findings. In our experience, most people will require multiple chiropractic visits in order to see meaningful results. The initial exams involve a few brief assessments to determine response and progress, after which a customized care plan will be presented providing a clinical strategy for addressing the root cause. Ultimately, Dr. Ryan will have a better understanding of the number of visits necessary once an initial and thorough evaluation has been completed.

During your first chiropractic visit, you can expect to meet the team’s care advocates, receive a tour of the office and then complete a thorough health exam with Dr. Ryan. He may also perform some range-of-motion tests, as well as x-rays or scans in order to detect nervous system stress. Finally, he will utilize these findings to create a personalized care plan that is tailored to you and/or your family’s needs.

Chiropractic care offers a variety of benefits. By restoring and optimizing neurological function, the rest of your body’s systems can perform much more optimally. Your body’s health is fully determined by the state or condition of your nervous system which impacts every other aspect of your health.

In many cases, some amount of chiropractic care is covered by insurance. This varies by provider and plan, so it’s important to check your individual policy to gain adequate insight. In general, most plans provide some amount of coverage for chiropractic services such as office visits, x-rays, and additional treatments.

However, our office is not in network with insurance because providers often attempt to dictate care; our recommendations are clinically and objectively defined. Therefore, we are able to customize our care to reflect the needs of the individual or family.

Yes, self-pay is a great option vs insurance because we are able to offer (in most cases) more competitive pricing than insurance rates. With self-pay, we are able to provide affordable care, accept most major credit cards as well as HSA and FSA plans.

Your appointment is reserved for just you +/or your family. If there is a cancelation with less than 24 hours’ notice, there will be a 50% missed appointment charge to your account with the card on file. This rate comes out to 50% of the price per visit amount which is subject to change but currently set at $60 (fee $30). There will be no exceptions for cancelations under 24 hours. Prior to each appointment there is a 24 hour reminder text which can be utilized to ensure you’re able to make your visit. The only authorized method of cancelation is by text via SKED or phone 816.441.9004 – if your call goes to voicemail, please leave a message so we can confirm your cancelation within the desired period and follow-up. We hope to never charge a late fee but as our practice has grown, time slots have become more valuable; we do our best to get people in as efficiently as possible while providing the best experience. This communication helps us meet the needs of those waiting to schedule appointments. Thank you for your understanding!
